This book demonstrates well the concept that everyone has a story to be told. Drama/humor, love/hate, success/failure, happiness/sadness -- you want it? Strother' s got it in this entertaining beginning of a life's memoirs. What I liked most about "The Child" is how it compares to my own childhood. I think today's adolescents would benefit from reading it.

This reads like a movie! In fact someone should make a movie out of this, the first of a series.
The stories that are written are simply from a different world, at least known to me, having never even been to the south. This book sets the stage of a young mans life in his most formative years. Can't wait to read the next one in the series called "The Soldier"

Gr8 idea!!! This is a wonderful account of growing up in the Delta from the perspective of a child. It is completely accurate; I know because I grew up in the Delta.

5.0 out of 5 stars A rewarding path to growth and developmentJuly 24, 2013
As a novice yet published Author I, although not an avid reader, was intrigued and captivated while reading the original and first release of Alien in the Delta by Thankful Strother. Upon my discovery of the release of his series versions: The Child, The Soldier and The Adult, I felt compelled to write this review/impression of the depiction of the roller-coaster and emotional experiences of someone with the required memories and necessary courage, to literally document many of the experiences and challenges he faced through his early development, growing up as a child in the Mississippi Delta.

Being able to follow the life's path of Thankful to adulthood, I sincerely find the story lines relevant and with enough impact to someday lead to the production of an outstanding movie, along the likes of Forest Gump, without the noticeable flaws in mental and physical development, but with expanded focus on the contributions ones environments imparts upon the development and understanding of "self".

My hat is off to you. Take a bow! Congratulations on this "Best Selling Effort" and more success and good luck with your future ventures.

This is the second book by Thankful Strother that I have read. I enjoyed the first one, but enjoyed this one even more. Thankful has a wonderful way with words. He shows me what life was like in another part of the country during his youth. This was close to the time when I was a young person living hundreds of miles away. I enjoyed seeing the things that were similar for us and at the same time seeing the many ways we were different. I would recommend this for older teens and adults. Thank you for writing such a great book.
